🐻 Day 1 – Cusco to Salkantaypampa via Humantay Lake (approx. 14 km)
Your Salkantay Trek adventure starts with an early transfer from Cusco to Soraypampa. The first ascent takes you to the spectacular Humantay Lake (4,200m), set beneath its namesake glacier. After soaking in the views, you'll return for lunch before continuing the hike to Salkantaypampa, your base camp nestled in the glacier valley.
🐻 Day 2 – Salkantaypampa to Challway via Salkantay Pass (approx. 14 km)
This is the most demanding day, as you ascend to the highest point of the route: the Salkantay Pass (4,620m). Upon conquering the summit, you are rewarded with phenomenal panoramic views of the Apu Salkantay. The long descent takes you through Huayracmachay and into the subtropical upper rainforest (cloud forest) to reach the warmer campsite at Challway Village.

After reaching Lucmabamba, you will take local transport to Hydroelectric, followed by a walk along the train tracks to the town of Aguas Calientes. The final day begins with an early bus to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
