1 CUSCO | Pitumarca - Quesiuno - Puka Pass - Anantapata - Warmisaya Pass (Minasniyuc Pass) - Surineqocha
Welcome to an extraordinary adventure that begins bright and early. We'll pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 am and embark on a two-hour drive to Pitumarca, followed by another hour and a half to Quesiuno, the starting point of our exhilarating trek.
As we make the final preparations before setting off, our talented chef will whip up a delicious and nourishing breakfast, ensuring you have all the energy you need for the challenges ahead. Before we begin, our knowledgeable guide will share the day's itinerary and valuable safety tips, setting you up for a rewarding experience over the next two days.
Our journey commences with an awe-inspiring hike through a verdant valley, offering glimpses of the majestic Ausangate glacier, the highest peak in the entire Cusco region. Along the way, you'll encounter several rural communities and witness the deep bond between the Andean culture and nature. Keep an eye out for the multitude of alpacas and llamas, observing your every step.
Continuing on, we'll reach the first milestone, Puka Pass (4,870 m / 15,978 ft), where a truly breathtaking panorama awaits. Behold the crystal-clear waters of the Pukaqocha lagoon and the colossal Ausangate glacier before you, an awe-inspiring sight that is sure to leave a lasting impression. Witness the water's origin from the sacred glacier's snow, a spectacle that will awaken your senses and fill you with a profound energy. Don't forget to have your camera ready, as there will be numerous opportunities for capturing spectacular photos along the way.
After a brief rest, we'll venture downhill for an hour and a half, reaching Anantapata, our lunch stop. Once we've restored our energy, it's time for a two-hour ascent to the highest point of the day, Warmisaya Pass (4,985 m / 16,355 ft). From this vantage point, you'll catch your first glimpse of the legendary Rainbow Mountain, known as Vinicunca, with its striking colors and dreamlike beauty in the distance.
The final descent of 45 minutes leads us to our campsite nestled by the Surineqocha lagoon. Upon arrival, we'll greet you with a happy hour of delicious snacks and hot beverages to satisfy your hunger. Later, you'll indulge in a scrumptious dinner before retiring for a well-deserved night's rest.
2 Surineqocha | Montaña Arco Iris, Vinincunca - Valle Rojo - Llactoc - Cusco
We'll wake you up bright and early this morning, precisely at 4:00 am, with a steaming cup of coca leaf tea in your tent. This will give you the energy boost you need to get going and warm up in the chilly mountains. Next, you'll savor a delicious and nourishing breakfast prepared by our chef. Get ready, because soon you'll discover the breathtaking Rainbow Mountain and the spectacular Red Valley.
We'll ascend for 2 hours to the lookout point of the stunning Rainbow Mountain, reaching an elevation of 5,100 m. You'll have ample time to explore at your own pace and witness mind-blowing views not only of the Rainbow Mountain itself but also of the mighty Ausangate glacier and other snow-capped peaks surrounding the area. The 360-degree panorama from here is truly fantastic, and you'll get to enjoy it before the large crowds arrive. Open your heart to the mountains; they will reward you for all your efforts. After immersing yourself in this gem nestled in the Peruvian Andes, we'll begin our hike to the fascinating Red Valley (5,050 m / 16,568 ft). This place feels like stepping onto another planet and is visited by very few tourists. You'll be amazed not only by its astonishing beauty but also by the profound tranquility that envelops you. A mere 30-minute walk will lead you to the viewpoint, where you'll capture the best vistas of the surrounding valley.
Finally, we'll embark on a 2-hour descent, passing through ancient Andean communities and alongside herds of llamas. If you're fortunate, you may even encounter some vicuñas, beautiful wild animals that have coexisted with the people of Peru since pre-Inca times. After a delightful final lunch, our private transportation will be waiting to take you back to the doorstep of your accommodation in the city of Cusco.
