The Quelccaya Glacier is a natural gem located in the Vilcanota mountain range, southeast of Cusco, recognized as the largest tropical glacier in the world. Our adventure begins with a journey through the Andean highlands, crossing landscapes of unique beauty until we reach the peaceful village of Phinaya , where we will enjoy local hospitality and a traditional breakfast before continuing to the glacier. A short hike will take us up close to this icy colossus, admiring lagoons, streams, high Andean wildlife, and the imposing peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range along the way.
After our experience at the Quelccaya Glacier , we'll return to Phinaya for a traditional lunch. Then, we'll head to the spectacular Sibinacocha Lagoon , a vast turquoise lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks and considered one of the most beautiful and extensive bodies of water in the Andean highlands.

TRIP DETAILS
The excursion to the Quelccaya Glacier , the largest tropical glacier in the world , is a unique experience that combines Andean landscapes, local culture, and nature in its purest state. We start early in the morning from Cusco towards the town of Phinaya , crossing the high plateau with breathtaking views. There we will enjoy an Andean breakfast before continuing to the glacier, where a short hike will allow us to admire lagoons, streams, vicuñas, and the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range .
After a typical lunch in Phinaya, we will visit the spectacular Sibinacocha Lagoon , a turquoise water surrounded by mountains, before returning to Cusco at night.
